How do you stop 600+ gallons of burning oil from spewing into dry grasslands and igniting wildfires?
( YOU DON'T! )

False information from Lava Run: "The Lava Run Wind Project will be located entirely on State-owned land currently managed for cattle grazing.
( FALSE )

No matter the size of any wind farm, the destruction to the environment is exponential.
Lava Run is proposing 112+ wind turbines across a 10 mile stretch along US 60 West of Springerville.

Large solar panel fields can cause soil compaction, erosion, habitat loss, and localized heat islands.
As much as 60,000 pounds of rebar is used for each Wind Turbine base.
Lava Run's 100+ wind turbines represent 6,000,000+ pounds of steel in concrete bases. These materials are NOT recycled.

This wasteland of wind farm parts rest just outside of Sweetwater, Texas. The old fiberglass blades fragment over time and are not recycled.
Where do you think all the waste from Lava Run will go when these machines break down?

AZ White Mountains Save Open Spaces is a community-based group of concerned citizens and visitors in and around Apache County, Arizona. Our mission is to protect and preserve the fragile grasslands, volcanic fields, and open woodlands of the White Mountains region. We aim to educate and inform our community and elected officials about the long-term harmful impacts of major wind and solar projects, particularly the proposed Lava Run wind and solar farm initiatives in Arizona. Together, we are working to safeguard our precious heritage, landscape, and culture for many generations to come, especially in the face of increasing wind turbines in Arizona.

Repsol Renewables North America (formerly ConnectGen, acquired by Repsol in Sep 2023) is a global corporation embarking on large-scale projects in Apache County, Arizona, including wind and solar farms under the name Lava Run LLC. The proposed Arizona wind farm will stretch along AZ US 60 for approximately 10 miles between Vernon (mile marker 370) and Springerville (mile marker 380).
Lava Run's wind and solar projects have been actively engaging with the State of Arizona and its officials for several years. Plans include the installation of over 112 wind turbines in Arizona along this route, alongside a significant solar field in the vicinity. This proposed site lies on valuable grazing and hunting lands and is situated on the edge of the third-largest volcanic field in the continental United States, covering beautiful vistas and valleys leading into Round Valley (Springerville/Eagar) and the White Mountains.
We want to STOP this from happening. Together, we can do this with passion and tenacity.
Repsol's Lava Run LLC project hints at the 'promising' reclamation of their above-ground structures, but neglects to address what lies beneath the surface. It's crucial to ask them and then insist, 'WE NEED THAT IN WRITING.'

Repsol's Lava Run LLC is proposing large-scale alternative energy projects in Arizona, including wind and solar initiatives, that threaten to cause irreparable damage to delicate ecosystems. This includes the installation of wind turbines and solar panel farms in Arizona, which are environmentally invasive on a massive scale.
PICTURE: miles of trenching for cables, huge laydown yards (holding areas for construction supplies and equipment), new power substations, on-site concrete plants, high voltage power lines, and millions of gallons of water from precious aquifers will be required for these projects.
IMAGINE: networks of newly constructed roads for countless trips of heavy equipment and water trucks DESTROYING delicate soils and vegetation over ancient lava fields.
Migratory paths for birds, bats, and wildlife will be CHANGED FOREVER.
Majestic views and "dark skies" will NEVER be here again.
HUNTING, TOURISM, and RECREATION bring in more money to Apache County than any other industries. This wind farm in Arizona would deliver a HEAVY FINANCIAL HIT to the county and local economy.
FOREVER is a long time... There is no going back if these Lava Run wind and solar projects move in!

Repsol's Lava Run LLC aims to develop a significant Arizona wind farm, focusing on wind and solar projects across two project phases. This is THEIR MAP, with OUR ARROWS indicating how close they want to place their wind turbines to crucial areas in and around Springerville, Arizona.
Their extensive project would feature over 112 wind turbines, towering at 654 feet, alongside a massive solar field covering approximately 3,760 acres. The initiative will also include high-tension power lines, electrical substations, concrete plants, waste yards, and much more.
The purple and yellow dots on the left illustrate their wind turbine plan for the North and South sides of US Highway 60. The solar field is proposed to be located Northeast near the Springerville Generating Station (SGS), situated behind the map legend.
This development is NOT okay. We must RESIST to keep them out.

Meet Trinidad and Henry. If you haven't met them already, you might run into them around the area. They are two of the faces behind Repsol Renewables Lava Run LLC, which is involved in the Arizona wind farm projects. You may also meet Mark "The VP" as things heat up around here with initiatives related to Lava Run wind and solar operations.
They tend to answer questions with VAGUE ANSWERS. They know NOTHING about our delicate environment, including the impact of wind turbines in Arizona, and they do not care.
Ask them, and they will tell you to your face...
They know "A LOT" about our "POOR" county.
They are preying on Apache County for its easy pickings. These people and the corporation they represent are NOT a golden goose. They are, in fact, a curse.
Do not fall for their "MAGIC BEANS".
